Default OBD2A or OBD2B

I have not found a clear answer while searching.

What years (96-00) are OBD2A and OBD2B? Are there specific models throughout the years with different OBD wiring.

I have a 1998 Civic LX manual with a hacked up harness and a tired D15B. I would like to get a stock harness to put in the car.

It is most likely either getting a fresh D, or an LS.

I had read that EX 98s were OBD2B. Just looking for a clear answer on all models.

Period. It goes by the year. Not the model. You heard (researched) wrong.

it is possible a few in 99 were obd2a and 98s that are obd2b. but thats far and few between and the differences are negligible.
just get the right ECU for the engine.

Depending on what motor I put in, would I be able to use an OBD1 harness?

No. Not without a lot of cuting and splicing, it would be a huge headache.

96-00-obd 2 use a 1 piece harness.
92-95 civic obd1/94-01 integra use 2 piece harnesses.
