try to find a obd1 to obd2 jumper, its a small set of wires that plug right into your ecu, i have a b16a2 in my 00 si, what year is the motor u have from. It should be obd2 unless its from an older del slow

well i guess my harness is actually a obd2 harness..so tchnically speaking my car shouldnt be able to run off a obd2 harness and ecu. also my engin harness only has 2 plugs that plug into the ecu...???????why?

a couple of questions for you...

#1. what is the make/model/year of your car?
#2. what is the make/model/year of your engine?
#3. what is the make/model/year of your ecu?

car = 1996 honda civic ex
engine= b16a thats what the engine reads, i bought the car this way so i am not sure
ecu=i was told it is for an obd2, i do not know how to tell though.

now the wiring harness i was also told that it is an obd2..because of the coil plug..it is one big one rather than 3 little ones (obd1) i guess

the 96 civic uses the OB2A harness. so you can find a OB2A to OB2B harness but spend the money to get a OB1 ECU imo

in hondas there is 2 different OB2 ecus. a OB2A and OB2B. 96-98 uses the OB2A and the 99-00 uses the OB2B. it just different connectors.

You cannot run the USDM OBD2B civic SI B16A ecu in your car because the SI ecu has an immobilizer built into it and your 96 civic steering column does not support the immobilizer. Your best bet is to get an OBD2A to OBD1 ecu adapter harness and run a chipped OBD1 P28. I would also recommend finding an OBD2A P2P (civic SI) ecu so that you can use it to pass smog inspections when the time comes.

only 2 plugs plug into the center of my ecu...does this mean my harness is incomplete? or which harness i have?
