Default OBD0 IVAC works on OBD1 car? need help with everlasting problem..

Ok guys heres my dreaded problem that wont go away.. its long but i'm trying to explain everything so maybe someone can figure this out..

When I start my motor it almost never held a high idle.. At one point the idle began to fluctuate from 800 to about 1500.. It would not throw a code but after about 10 mins of driving it would start to fluctuate..

When the idle began to fluctuate the car would be a bitch to drive.. It would decel abruptly and be very jerky in general.

So I changed the Idle air control valve.. the one under the TB, with a brand new one from Honda.. This still didn't fix my problem, the car still did not hold a fast idle.

My TPS read .5 to 4.6v which I assume is fine , but I still changed it twice to make sure it wasn't bad..

Now the only thing left if the IVAC ( on the back of the manifold) the one I had on there was from a SOHC obd0 civic I believe.. I dont think it ever worked right..
I changed it yesterday but the only one i had laying around was from a 91 SI..

Now my car idles high for about 2 mins then begins to fluctuate slightly from 1000-1200..

When i unplug my IVAC the idle is REALLY low and when i rev the car to about 1200 it feels like a dead spot, it will rev rapidly from 1200-1500 until i give it more gas then it will go past that point...

This is really weird, whats wrong with it ? the IVAC or the TPS? Any suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks for reading my extra long story...

try unplugging the EACV on the back of the intkae manifold and placing a 10w10ohm resistor between the two prongs of the connector, then starting the car and see how it runs. it should have a rock steady idle, and if not, there is something mechanically wrong with the engine. You should also not throw a CEL becuase of the resistor and the car should run fine only without any sort of cold idle whatsoever.

Hey good idea.. I was thinking of that but didn't get as far as finding out what resistor I need..

I wouldn't be surprised if something was wrong with the engine.. It just blew a pretty big puff of white smoke for the first time today.. I guess thats where all my coolant was going..

Thanks
