Default not sure whether i can drive car(NEED HELP)

ok i was on my home way from work when suddenly i heard something 'pop' and my check engine light immediately came out. i turned on my hazards and pulled over to the side of the road. i got out of the car and popped the hood to see nothing visible wrong. Under the car though, was a different story. Their was a giant pool of, what I think could of been, radiatior fluid. Well I tried to start up the car again and their was no check engine light...but, the car started very weakly? After three start ups it was back to normal but their was a persistant grinding noise. If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it since mechanics aren't working on the weekends.

Also the car is a 96 civic lx.

check the radiator hoses, if ones blown, fix it before you drive it. that grinding noise could mean $$$$$.

hopefully for u its just a busted hose
1.are u sure it was coolant dripping down
2.are any fluid levels low(i.e. radiator resevoir, clutch fluid, tranny, esspecially the oil level)
3.are any of the hoses torn-i did know if u already checked or not
4.what part of the motor is the grinding coming from- a persistent grinding usually means tanny problems
5.can u shift through all the gears all right

thats enough of a to-do list for know

Well the grinding is just when the car is running. Not moving. No acceleration. I'm going to go try to move it from some random persons house..I left it on the side of his dirt yard so I want to get it outta there before I get towed.

I hate this stupid car..I just ordered a lip kit for it too.....expletive

it happens bro. just another reason to build the motor or do a swap. if it ran out of coolant chances are you stuck a ring or two..or 10.

so is it undriveable? all that the only thing the radiator fluid was for was to keep it cool..so if it doesn't overheat it should be alright? why would the check engine light come on.

the motor got hot and threw a code. check the hoses, fill it back up with coolant, drive it and see what happens.
