overheating in my hybrid
This just happened yesterday. Just driving normally, and began to see smoke coming out of my hood, so I check my temp, and it is almost redline. So I pull over, see that I have no coolant left, but it was full a month ago(checked it when i changed my oil). Luckily there's a supermarket nearby and I buy a gallon of distilled water, and put it in, I also turned on the heat to help a little(heat was coming out). It starts to run fine again. So I proceed to go to my friend's house, and let the car rest. left that night, and temp went back up again. Also, I had the heat on again, but it remained cold for some reason. I was almost home, so I just cruise it home. This morning, I check my car again. I fill it with radiator fluid and start the car. I check for bubbles after it has warmed up, and the radiator fluid is slowly dripping into the reservoir tank. I also check the hoses, and the upper hose is hot, and the lower hose is cold. I also see a tiny leak coming from the the back area near the lower coolant hose. It is coming from a hole that has been capped with a rubber hose, and clamped down. Also, my fans never came on.
So, I am thinking that I might just replace everything that deals with the cooling system.
What should this include?
thermostat(I'm thinking it is messed up)
radiator(when I got the swap, my friend said he fixed it )
radiator fan switch
Do I need to replace my water pump?
anything else, or any thoughts on why this happened?
Also heard that the headgasket might be messed up now too. How to check? Compression test?
TIA

Re: overheating in my hybrid (FifthGearOnline)
yes with any hole in your system u will loose pressure, and pressure keeps the boiling point down, so change the hose
