Default NOOB QUESTION

hey, im pretty much a noob when it comes to hondas and acuras but i just wanted to know wat is a ECU and where is it located... i heard that it is optional but i dont know... my second question is wat is an FI... is this a turbo or wat?? i was just told that an FI is the only way to get potential out of a d16... and the last question is i have a d16y7 wat are some low cost performance parts that are worth purchasing to help out my hp and torque... thanks alot any advice or info would be great

You better have your flame suit on....
All of your questions could have been answered by searching...

but ill help you out a little to give you somethings to go search about

ECU - electronic control unit, its pretty much the computer that controls many aspects of your engine etc. It is not optional.

FI - forced induction, could be turbo or supercharger or perhaps nitrous. It is the oposite of NA or All Motor

as for your d16y7, you will have to look around some at what people have done and how much power they make. Bolt ons wont add much hp/tq but a turbo could. Low cost is a relative term, so you need to decide that for yourself.

edit: ^^^ u beat me to it

Swap it or do the "home made" turbo kit . That is about it . I can't remember if the your motor is V-tech or not , but if not . . . you can do the mini-me swap AND the boost.

i didn't know that civics came with cordless phones, LOL

j/k man

anyways intake, header, exhaust might help you out but money well spent would be to buy an Integra LS engine swap for that car.

One low cost (relative to I/H/E which i spent $1k on) you could do is Mini-me. Slap a d16y8 head (thats the top part of the engine that has the cover that says 'Honda' on it. It also is thepart that connects to your intake manifold and exhaust header.) your car and you gain about 25-30 hp. I have one for sale . Click my Sig for pics/details
