No power to fuel pump (what to diagnose?)

No power to fuel pump (what to diagnose?)
Hey all,
I installed a main harness in my coupe Saturday and trying to crank, I get no power to the fuel pump.
What I checked,
-Main relay
-Fuse 18
-Ground on Tstat,under driver seat,under dash on left wall...
Anyone know what else I can check for?
Also I heard someone running the hot wire to the fuel pump from the ignition wire?? that safe?
