Default no blinkers....search says flasher maybe?

Like it says ...no blinkers...those and taillights and cluster lights went out installing a radio so I know i shorted something...blew a fuse and i fixed that so the cluster/taillights are working, but my blinkers or hazzard lights do nothin. I have a 93 Sol can someone tell me where the flasher is located or any other ideas if I'm way off target?? thanks guys

the blinker relay is in your fuse panel under the dash. it's a little black box

verify your hazard harness is properly plugged in as well.

alright...thanks...is there a way to know if it is bad though and do you have a diagram or link to a diagram thread here off hand so I do know that it is hooked up right? Like i said - normal blinkers dont work so I'm leaning towards your first suggestion, thanks

you just need to take out the hazard harness and make sure it's plugged in..

does your hazards work?

a new relay is about 10 bucks at autozone if even that.

and the relay is a tiny little box with three prongs (kinda like sticking something into an outlet -- just slightly different). it's right in that fuse panel under the dash. and is the only black box plugged into that.

and sorry, i do not know of a diagram.

yeah i know which one it is just not how to tell by loooking if it is bad...or if you can tell by looking. hazzards and blinkers are non-functional so I am assuming it is that relay

sometimes you can tell if it's bad by taking it out and opening up to look at the internals (a little motherboard with some soldered things on it) and see if there is a short or blown piece on there.

but other times you can't.

I would just borrow one from a friend or purchase a new one and plug her in to see if works

I just did an auto to 5 speed conversion.. and while messing around with the wiring that ran to the auto shifter I blew this fuse a couple of times. The gauge cluster goes out, nothing working on it, and the turn signals go out too.. Sounds like we blew the same fuse.. At any rate, the first time I found a blown fuse in the fuse box under the dash, and a blown fuse in the relay box under the hood next to the battery. The second time I blew the fuse causing the exact same symptoms, it was the one under the hood. Its labeled 'back-up' and was 7.5 amp.. I'm assuming this is your problem. The one under the dash was not blown the second time i had this happen so I’m guessing it was just blown and I never noticed.

I had a bastard of a time finding this because I thought the fuse labeled back-up was a spare fuse.. Its definitely not, check it and I bet that’s your problem.

If you are having a hard time checking the fuses use a multi-meter and do a continuity check on the fuse. That’s usually the fastest way to check them if the blown fuse isn’t obvious.

After you blow a few fuses you will learn to disconect the battery when you mess with the wirring. Thats what has happened to me anyways.
