Default Newbie question: Engine Ground

Okay in vtecvoodoo's other thread he posted a picture of his engine. So I jacked that picture really quick so I could help explain my question.

How come some people who do swaps have a ground like the one that is circled and others do not have it. Do they just ground somewhere else on the engine/car or what? Sorry if that's a really dumb question but it is a tech post.

A ground is a ground. You can put a ground from the engine to the chassis just about anywhere you want to, as long as it doesn't interfer with other electronic items. That's just the stock location, so it easy to just put that one back on. You will also have to make sure there is enough slack so you don't pull on it when the engine torques over.

I knew a guy who had a hatch and left off his ground strap. The car ran like **** and he had a hell of a time with the ignition and all until he remembered to put that strap back on!

i believe that is a stock ground wire, same as the one on my sohc. Other people have ground kits, because there alot bigger then the stock ones.

it's just personal preference. some people like to ground the block on the firewall, others use the stock location, some do both. i use the stock block and tranny ground locations, as well as an earthing kit. somewhat like the one above. ^
