New Si
Just wondering what everyone thinks about the new body style... I personally don't care too much for it, i like that fact they picked (IMO) the best platform the hatchback, but it looks too much like an Echo/focous to me.... but it might grow on me, i didn't like the 01 civics, but since my brother got one i love it! The new hatch will have I-Vtec which is damn cool, so they might redeme themselves, plus the interior is phat!!!!!!! look where the shifter is!!!!

Re: New Si (GirlPoweredHonda)
I still like the 92-95 bodystyle the most. The interior is pretty sick tho... I dont know about the shifter... sorta weird. Plus does anyone know if its like a cable now? I always liked the good ol mechanical shift linkages personally.

Re: New Si (TheFLY)
I have a Ek and i like it a lot, but i love the Eg too, it is one of the best platforms ever made by honda in the civic... lighter and first Si is the hatch.... not the coupe! I don't know about the cable i havn't heard but i can find out...

Re: New Si (JDM_EG)
02 Si test drivers say the shift feels same as normal one. it's realy heavy for a hatch tho ..2700lbs. plus, it's not faster than the previous Si, which is weird. but with a 2.0L, we're sure to get better gains in the long run

Re: New Si (RRLSi)
STRAIGHT AS A GRIZZLEY'S DICK!!!!! jk... well thank you for the info on the weight and speed, that is odd that it isn't any faster, you would think they would have beefed it up a little more, i just really hate the compressed minivan look!

Re: New Si (GirlPoweredHonda)
The Si version doesn't look that good since it is missing the body kit that the CTR will have. I'd get one only with the body kit. I think the shifter position is very nice and it's different from 99.9% of manuals out there. I believe it is beneficial performance wise since it is closer to the engine. The interior is very nice and clean. Let's hope they bring the CTR over here. I'd get a black one...totally sweet!

Re: New Si (tiiiteb16)
The EG VX hatch weighed in at 2074 lbs. i believe.... and the Si EG hatch was 2340 lbs.... damn that's a big jump to 2700 for the new ES.

Re: New Si (Civic Hatch Boy)
curb weight on 99-00 si's is 2612 lbs. so 2700 is not thaaat big of a jump. i agree it is heavy for a hatch, but the new civic hatch is giant. it looks like they just took the 5 door civic they have in europe and made it 3 door... like it's not any shorter...
it's like a vw gti now.
i think the new hatch is heavier than the rsx too.

Re: New Si (Civic Hatch Boy)
i don't know how much longer... it's pretty significant. i'd venture to say it has the same wheelbase as the coupe, but don't quote me on that... i really don't know. i saw it at the california auto show in anaheim... it looks long... like the rear section looks like it could fit a door to make it 5 door... now imagine trying to make a 5 door out of an EG...
edit: ooop.. i just realized you were comparing the length to the 99-00 one... so i don't think it's much longer... but then the 99-00 one was a coupe... i think the new one is long for a hatch, but not long in general.

Re: New Si (tiiiteb16)
those pics, of the goldy si, make me not like it now.
when I saw pics of the JDM CTR I was stoked, but the new Si is fugly, it really is.
I am sure I will like it more with 16" CPO35's and lowered an inch with big brakes stuffed in there.... but hey who knows. mayeb that gold just is not my cup o' tea.

Re: New Si (owen_the_soyboy)
i dont know about anyone on this board this but i think straight this car is UGLY!!! its heavy and only produces 160hp from a 2.0 which is good but not by HONda standards car looks like a focus, too bad it won't be able to match the focus svt's power, if i had to choose i would definately get the svt focus

Re: New Si (94autotegLS)
Personally I like it. Honda designs allways grow on you after a while. Remember when the EK's came out everyone complained about how ugly they were.
CTR won't make it here to the states, but the RSX Type R will (2003 MY). So if you don't like the powertrain of the SI, time to do a swap

Re: New Si (elmo)
i think it's really dope how the new hatch doesn't look the same as the old ones.. then it's like. wut's the point. i think it'll take time to like, but it's definate that we will learn to love it. 160 is not a lot for 2700lbs, but 2.0L, we have a lot to work with.
