New car and some problems
Hey H-T.com I'm new here and I just bought a 96 Civic CX HB and was going to ask some questions. Its a 5 speed.
1. Since the 96 CX doesn't have a Tach in the encloser can I use the encloser off of the 97 DX? If I can't then how hard is it to hook up a generic tach to the engine?
2. When I stick it in reverse it makes a wierd sound coming from the engine bay like a tick tick sound. Is this normal because of the synchronized gears?
3. The cutch feels wierd when I'm driving. At the end of letting it go, it sticks and then pops and hits my shoe. Is this normal?
4. When I was driving home from the dealers today I noticed I was going slower and a lot of people were passing me. So my dad calls me and asks why I'm going so slow and I was going 65mph like the speed limit and my dad was going 65mph too. The only way I could stay up with him is if I was going like 75mph. So do you think that my speedo is off? If it is, is it easy to fix?
Thx
Silas

Re: New car and some problems (pro547)
1 the gauge cluster is easy to change. all you do is remove a few screws unplug old plug in new and thats it
2 its normal for a Honda tranny to make a clack when u put it into reverse and then whine as u back up
3 the clutch pedal shouldnt stick at all. u might need to adjust it. down where the pedal attaches to the firewall u can adjust
4 speedo could be off more than the normal 5mph. not sure how to fix. there are businesses that do

if you dont want to go through the trouble of changing your guage cluster to get a tach, you can just buy an autometer tach or something, pretty easy to install and look good
