New Car....
Hi guys I am thinking buying a car more like for daily driving.. and eventually do a type R swap. (I am turning my current type R into a track car only..)
thinking about getting a hatchback, from year 96-99. Are they really that rare that I am having a tough time finding something nice and good deal?
Dealers were asking 11K for 98 DX with 35K miles. is that a good deal?? I have seen a CX being advertised for 8K, but of course it's sold...
thanks

Re: New Car.... (captainJDM)
I've seen 96 civic hatches in the classifieds for 5k+, and
98's for around 8-9k+, but that is in LA. I dunno about
Chicago.

regardless, I think I am going to spend only about 7K .... perhaps a type R swap or turbo later...

that's why I'm opposed to buying cars from a dealership...they charge too much. good choice on the 6th gen, there's tons of info and stuff available to both the 96-98 models and the 99-00s(which differ slightly). you shouldn't have much of a problem finding a good one with less than 50K for $8-9K, but if you're going to perform the R swap, why not look for a nice chassis with some mileage on it($6-7K) and save those bucks for the swap, future mods, etc. if you're having trouble finding cars after surfing autotrader, autobytel, cars.com, ebay, thepartstrader, etc, try your local newspapers/car classifieds...you can always find tons of cars for less bucks than a dealership. good luck in your quest

how bout u just give me ur s4, so u dont have to deal with deciding who u want to trade a 98 or 99 with. haha
i say u dont pay no more than 7 grand for a 6thgen hatch. it doesnt come with much, and definitely isnt worth paying more than 7 for a base model car, that is at least 5 years old. not worth it.
ur gonna think its crap compared to the torque of ur s4 also....wow what a difference.
get it from private sale too, so u can pay lower taxes for the car when u go to the dmv. the stealership is...well...goin to try to juice u as much as possible, and on top of that add on that extra 500$ tax to it no matter what. plus they have all those dealer policies and charges...bs.

6-7 and even 8k dont pay any more then that 1 just take your time for looking for a good car.
about the swap IMO if you ever think going turbo dont even bother with the R just get a gsr b18c1 motor and then go turbo .
