Default new battery dead, but no battery light came on

Like top says I bought a battery about 2 to 3 weeks ago, drives fine on way to work. But when I get off of work at night, the lights go dim and eventaully teh car dies a block from my house, no previous signs before. I got it to restart barely and drove with lights off before it died rolled into driveway. Battery was dead, so I am charging it.

I replaced the alternator about a month ago....but when it had gone out the battery light came on.

I dont think loose connections could cause a battery to die but then i dont have experience.

Any clues? Im gonna take it to autozone tomorrow to make sure I got the alternator working properly.

had two alternators from two differnt places **** on me this month. One rebuilt from kragen and another "brand new" high output, from alterstart. get that alternator checked before diagnosing anything else. my rebuilt one failed the test after a month.

autozone's machine said it was alternator line which either means a ground between battery and alt. or the alt. is bad. I guess I take it off tomorrow and get it put on a machine outside the car.

The same thing happened to me two months ago, i went through three rebuilt alternators, good luck bro, it's a pain in the *** to have to keep getting another just to switch it out again for another crappy one.
