Default New 00 Si Brake MC Broken?? Pics inside.

Here is what I bought from ebay.

Is the piston supposed to be sticking out of the end? Or do I release it by taking out the ring? Is this busted, or missing something?

I don't want to be taking off/replacing the MC on my daily driver if this new unit is busted.

TIA.

typically the piston would be sticking out just a hair from the housing, not inside it....but im not too sure on Si's, although i dont think honda strayed to far from their braking system from regular civics. To me it looks like it is missing the head of the piston.

Is the head removeable? Can I just take the one off the MC in the car when I swap it out?

Now i dont know if the piece is removable or not but if it isnt, then you got ripped off. I really dont know how they can sell the booster without that piece, thats needed for your braking hydraulics.

YUp, you need the boster that will fit the M/C that you bought.

We had the same suprise when I came to change the one on my friend's car.

You need the booster that have the rod sticking out.

I have a 00 SI MS sitting here and it looks exactly like that only with a piston sticking out of it.
The piston doesn't want to come out either. (I didn't pull all that hard though)

you may want to use this as a core for a rebuilt one.

So you are saying that yours looks like the second picture of the 3 MCs with the shiny rod sticking out the end? And the rod doesn't pull out?

The brake booster from 99-00Si is the same P/N. The MC I have is a 99Si. I can't imagine that the MCs are different.
