Default Neep help fast, suspension question

I just installed kyb agx shocks on my 98 civic. We put the rear shocks on and went to tighten down the nuts on the top of the shock, well the one in the middle that is actually on top of the shock rod, would only tighten a little, and then it would start to just spin the rod. so it is only tightened on a little, is there any problems i might have because of this, or anything i can do to fix it?

please help

If you are talking about the nut on the actual piston (shock rod), then yes you need to tighten it down. Without it being on tight the shock is not going to perform how it is supposed to. If you drive for a while you will hear a clanking noise coming from the back from the piston extending into tower and then going back down. Get it tight with an allen key and an open end. The only travel you want in the piston is the travel going in and out of the shock body. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, but there isn't a place for an allen key on the top, only on the stock shocks. Is there any other way I can tighten it? Because I have been driving the car and dont want to screw it up. I also tried and air ratchet to see if it would spin faster and maybe tighten but that didnt work, any other help would be great

There should be a place for the allen key. I just did my suspension. Tokico Illuminas and Ground-Control coilovers. ******* cheap japanese metal on one of the shocks. I tore half the thread right off one of those suckers. lol. I still got the bolt on though. I'm hoping it holds up good its torqued down and all.

sometimes there isnt one either because the previous owner has already stripped it of it has been replaced with cheap shock or even umm, i dunno.
But i just put coilover on a friends 92 4 door and it didnt have a place for the allen wrench either, i just used an impact and it tightened it enough without spinning the rod, it spun the rod slowly but turned the nat fast so eventually it got all the way tight.

Ya if you put a regular wrench on and keeping doing little bursts at it. Like pull real hard it should work.
