Need some information about CA bar/ref for swaps
So lately I've been hearing a lot people saying bar/ref stations aren't doing the smog part of the test anymore and just looking for visual? a few other people saying that motors cannot be bar'd in 2010, also is it possible to bar usdm 1998 gsr in a 1997 civic or does it have to be usdm 99-00 b16a2 since the civics didn't come 1.8? just wanted to see if anybody can confirm this?
Also if anybody knows a lenient and cool ref stations in LA area would really appreciate the help and if anybody has the 800 number for the BAR i can't seem to find it.
Thanks in advance.

A 98 motor is OK for a 97 car as long as you stay OBDII and the motor is of USDM spec.
The referee scheduling centers number is 1-800-622-7733.
I am not from the LA area so I can't comment on a cool ref.

Ref's doing smogs? - No they do the visual and assign a bar label. The smog tech needs this bar label to do the smog correctly. This BAR label has the info/spec's we need.

With the new aftermarket CAT regulation, you will have to find a OBDII aftermarket cat converter. You have to use the CAT that is designed for the GSR.
Yes State will do the BAR part, then you will have to get it smoged somewhere else.
