Need some help mild restore on hatch dash
First of all let me explain I bought This hatch as a shell. I wasn't reallly worried about the interior but now I got a paint job and the interior is buggin the **** out of me.</br>
Whoever had the car before me thought it'd be cool to spray the ****in dash the same color as the car. Metalic grey. The old color. Never cleared it or nothin. My seats are GSR black leathers, carpet was ditched for my old LS carpet, gauge pod is si, door panels are black, but plastics are all stock grey. I have the black LS armrest and black eg shifter console.
So what the hell can I do with my dash. Is there a paint that will be matched to a stock honda black? Can it all just be painted? I don't want to just buy all the interior piece by piece. I'm worried about the dash mainly because the Vin numbers. Don't want more trouble with cops than I've had. Seems everyone with a honda is under a magnifying glass here. Thanks.

Same here. Just drill out your VIN from your old dash, move it to the new dash with pop rivets. If you want to be completely OEM, locate some anodized black rivets and they'll never know the difference if they look at your VIN.
Don't try to paint your dash...it'll never look factory...way too shiny. And that will bug you if the gray bugs you now.

I've researched this before.. the brand SEM makes a paint called SEM color coat: Landau Black. It resembles the factory color and finish almost perfect..

If you're going to go through the trouble of taking out the dash, which you'll have to do to paint it right, you may as well just replace it with one the correct color and in good condition.

painting it is pretty easy some gray scotch brite take your time to scuff it down good mask the vin off spray it. the sem is good if your going to paint everything if you want you can take a sample peice to your local body shop they can match it and spray it im a body man did that to my glove box door matches great. if you want it to not look to shiny either use a rattle can jamb clear i prefer dupont or have them spray it out of the gun and use an "egg shell" clear basiclly has the sheen of an eggshell if thats still to shiny still have them spray a matte clear not its not expensive if you do all the prep work yourself and bing it to the shop ready to spray
