Need some ECU help - 02D01560-1500
I have a VX ECU the number on the board is 02D01560-1500... how can I tell if this POS is an auto or manual? When I had it hooked up my car was running like **** so I put my CX ECU back in and it runs better but the idel is messed up and it bogs pretty bad...

I'm pretty sure there were no VX Automatics. (it was an option from Honda but I've never seen nor heard of one)
But just in case look at the number on the outside. The second digit of the last set of numbers is the indication. P07-_5_ or P07-_2_? the first is an auto trans, the second is a manual trans.
BTW a CX ECU uses a one wire O2 sensor. the VX uses a five wire wideband O2. it will make the car run like crap if it doesn't see the right O2.

It's a 5 sp...The way you can tell is in the "A00" grouping, if the second digit is a "0" it's a manual, if it's a "5" then it's an auto.
Also you can remove the top cover and look at resistor placement...

Any idea why it was making the car run so crazy when the vx ecu was plugged in? The car is a 92 cx and the swap is a 92 vx – I thought it was plug & play because the car was pre wired ect but maybe something else needs to be done?

you have a vx ecu right? vx ecu require difference sensor for the vx motor. like wideband 5wires o2 sensor instead of an 4wires o2 like other model, and it also use an egr for that engine unlike other model doesn't have it. to be able to help you better. we need to know what motor you have.

That VX ECU is looking for the 5 wire O2 sensor, if it doesn't see the correct inputs from that sensor your fuel trims will be all crazy. How many wires does the O2 sensor that your using have on it?
The EGR isn't as critical, it will just throw the CEL after you've been driving a bit, but it won't triger limp mode.

Sounds like you know exactly what’s going on… The CEL comes on after I have been driving awhile usually. So it sounds like the O2 sensor is the issues most likely correct?

How many wires are coming off of the O2 sensor???
Chances are if it has the 5 wire O2 sensor and your using VX ECU and the CEL isn't coming on right away the O2 is fine.

Chances are if it has the 5 wire O2 sensor and your using VX ECU and the CEL isn't coming on right away the O2 is fine.
