Need some advice with mods
Hey everyone,
This is my first time posting on this board. A friend of mine told me about it and said i should just post my questions up. I read alot of whats already posted and it seems like good information. anyway I have a 99 civic EX with the D16y8 Motor. I have a AEM CAI , DC Sports 4-2-1 header and a Tanabe Super Racing Madallion Exhaust. I plan to super charge later on down the road but for now what else do you guys recommend I do to my motor ? ... of course im looking for more power. Im pretty much just going N/A for right now then i'll slap the super charger later on. I'll take all the information i can get thx

do a swap dont' waist money on all those bolt ons and a supercharger on a "D" series motor your not gonna be happy later on because its not gonna be fast...do a b18c5 swap and some bolt ons and hondata and you'll be straight...

I'm not the best with this **** but I will try my best. Feel free anyone to correct me. I would recommend an engine swap. SOHC V-tec is the very hard to make strong. If you do plan on using the stock engine I would turbo is personally. Edlebrock made a very nice turbo kit with everything but a little man to install it for you. They claim it will ad 74 hp to the wheels with only 4 psi. That is a great power gain and any stock engine can handle 4 psi. If you intend to crank out some big numbers in the hp I would completely rebuild your bottom end with sleeves. I heard good things about Eagle Gaurd sleeves to protect the block so look into those. Rebalancing the crank isn't needed unless you plan on over 20 psi boost which then you will want a new one. Just start doing alot of studying. Look around and assess your choices. Bolt ons only go so far.

Re: (Wicker Man)
If you plan on keeping the motor........I would build it up with internals. If you plan on going NA......you can get up to 160-170 HP with built internals out of the D-series. ...........If you plan on serious boost........I would sleeve the motor and start from there. If you want serious power........do a swap. Even a boosted well built B16 could do wonders.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, but also don't be scared to use the search function. Find out what your budget is, what the cars main purpose will be and wether you wish to go Boost further down the road or NA. Welcome to HT

damn I was just about to say, "talk to member Spade."
Most guys on here think SOHC are useless. He, Spade, definitely has an appreciation for any and every D-series.
