Both will retain their value long enough for you to sell them for nearly what you bought them for and get your 8th gen.

If you're only going to have it for a short period of time leave it alone.
Doing mods to it will just decrease the amount of potential buyers when you sell it, and depreciate the value of the car.
For example:
modded civic with 100k miles = $5000
Clean unmolested civic with 100k miles = $5500-$6000
Just for reference, that's how blue books usually price cars.

with buying such high priced used cars why not buy the si now it just doesn't make sense to wait unless you want to torture yourself first so the si seems that much better when you get it

Re: (Ashley98)
How about not buying from a STEALRSHIP.
Buy whatever car you want from a local. And when the time comes buy the FIRST used 08 civic that you see.
A civic with 5,000 miles on it is the best way to buy one. You miss out on paying for all the depreciated, and it's in the same or nearly the same condition it was when it was new.

if you lived on this side of the country there is a nice 00 EX Coupe, Silver with 20k miles on it for 7k - certainly could get talked cheaper though
