check the cable for wear. most likely at the throttle body. somethings obviously sticking somewhere if you can pull the pedal back and it stops. does the car have cruise control?

I would also check your throttle body spring if the cable isn't hanging up anywhere.

good ideas from everyone.
I would do that maybe clean out your tb as well with some cleaner. Check if the TB cable is over tighten on the Intake Manifold bracket.

good luck!

might be a good idea to replace it, if it hasen't been done..

Hey i have the same problem, why did u sak if he had cruise control, i have cruise control and i also have to pull the gas pedal for it to idle normal sometimes. I cleaned the butterfly so i dont think that could be it, i adjusted the cable and i dont see any wear, could the spring need to be tightened so that it can return all the way back? thanks
