Default need help on some new items for my car

I want to get some rims for my new civic. it is a white 2dr brand new. I want at least 17" but might go with 18". now if I buy the springs and lower the car will the 18" rims be to much and will the car ride like ****. I just use this car to drive to work and back for the time being. I used to own a mustang but it got totaled. I will have another stang soon to modify and race. That is why I won't be doing to much to the civc until 3 or 4 yrs down the road.

Depends how much you lower it and what width rims you get. I don't know specifics on the 2002, but I know o previous civics it is much easier to fit 17's on a lowered vehicle. If you want 18's they will have to be 18x7's, maybe 7.5 will fit. I don't think you will notice a difference between 17's and 18's as far as ride. There will be a big difference in performance though. 17's are gonna really sap some hp from you civic,as will 18's.

Don't get 18's for a civic, especially if you plan on using it as an everyday driver. 17's are sort of marginal, but either way you will be loosing power with those things. If you plan on modifying the car 3-4 years down the road, you will regret having bought those huge things. When you do modify your car and you are looking to race, you will be looking for 9-13lb rims for the street and slicks for the track(if you become that serious), why waste your money.

I was just going to buy the rims because a friend is selling them with new tires they are 18 by 7.5 is what he told me. they are for sale for $700 so I thought why not but I haven't bought them yet I just want everybody's opinion on it. I don't want to be one of the "ricer" guys in DFW. I just want a car that looks good until I finish my stang then I can start modifying the hell out of the civic. Also any advice on some nice rims and size. I just not sure what looks good on a civic. thanks again.

size 18 on a civic IS rice, unless you have some power to back it up. You can get 16's for cheaper than what you will be buying the 18's+tires for and you will be a lot happier with the performance.

18s on a civic is not rice thats bullsh*t. People take the whole 'riceboy' thing waay to far. I swear to god. I understand people calling ppl a 'riceboy' who has a bunch of rediculous stuff on their car, such as a obscene amount of stickers, a obscene amount of lights, ect... but rims?! I totally understand the reasoning behind why 18s are not a good choice, since theyre so heavy, and you explained that. But its not rice... its just not one of the wisest choices he can go with IF he is planning on going the racing route. If the car is just for crusin around... why not?

18's do not belong on a civic period. To clarify, this mod would not only hinder his performance, but would be noisy and hard to ride in such a small car. So rice is only limited to stickers and lights?
18's on a compact car aren't rice? Is a huge spoiler rice? What about one of those agressive body kits? Oh, wait..but those add mad downforce and in no way do more harm than good, right? I certainly hope I did not step on any toes(TheFLY) with these comments, I'm just trying to save the guy from embarrassment.

SO this is rice then:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=72439

Ok. And you might want to note that I said "such as" I was not limiting 'rice' to just stickers and lights. And Im not here to debate what IS rice and what isnt, because thats totally useless. People labeling one thing 'rice' and another thing cool, is totally unfair. Its their car, and although they deserve to know that certain things that they can put on their cars might not be worth it in the long run, let them learn. Because I guarantee that if they learn by doing, rather then learning by being told they will learn a lot more. All this labeling **** this and that is limiting people's creativity... thats why there 2 zillion Hondas running around that look alike, and a very few that are actually unique.

That's just my .02c

I don't really want to argue with you about this, because my initial intention was to help the new guy. I don't know how it is in TN, but here in Houston there are a more Hondas running around with chromed 18's (not including stickers or anything else) than sleeper's with 15's. The car you are referring to also looks like it has a turbo kit and some other nice under-the-hood goodies, which as stated in my second post was 18's are ok "if you have the power to back it up". But, then again, your true performance owners are not going to put 18's on a civic, because they know it does nothing for the car, but slow it down. 18's belong on a rear wheel drive car anyway, that is why I refer to a civic with 18's as rice.

Well, that is why I wanted 18" rims, I used to have stang with some 17" rims. I was talking to a guy at work he has a civic si I think it is a 2k si. He told me to go with C-2000 rims in the 15" or 16" but I cant find them anywhere in the mags I have. I just want something that looks nice on my car. Like I said before this car will be my daily driver till about 3 or 4 yrs down the road, then I will go crazy with it. I am having to rebuild another mustang again. I like to race the mustang. I want to get into the import scene but I just can't affoard it and the mustang racing at the same time so I want to finish the stang first and then start on the civic. So I open to some of you alls opinions on what rims look good on a 2002 2dr white civic.

If you lower it on 18's its just going to raise it back up to stock height.

If you want looks go with 17's. My neighbor has a 2002 Civic EX coupe on 17's and she's got the back wheels tucked slightly inside the wheel wheel. Looks real tiiiite...!

If you want performance go with some light 15's.

If you want both performance and show go with some light weight 16's.
