How much should i lower? Pictures please!!!
I have 17'' rims and I am planning on lowering them.
question:
how much should i lower it? how much did you guys lower it? and with what set up?
I don't want my car to have trouble getting over speed bumps, nor do I want it to look like an off-road car
should i get eibach sportline or pro-kit?
thanks

You cant lower rims. What type of car you have would be helpfull. And how much wheel gap do you have with the 17's on there now? How much of a drop do you want? How much do you wanna spend? Lots of variables here.....

oops, i mean, lower my car
Civic 99 Coupe
i didn't put the rims on yet. I haven't bought the springs actually.
i don't want a big gap, but i want to be able to drive over speed bumps without any problems
thanks
spending wise... no more than 150

Sell the 17s and use the $150 + wheel money to buy some ground control coilovers and tokico shocks. You won't find much for 150 that is quality. You could get springs or coilovers but then no money for shocks which will not be a nice thing.

Re: How much should i lower? Pictures please!!! (phthalo)
you don't want 17" unless your car is more of a show car.
i personally did own 17" rims before and they were lowered with cheap dropzone coilovers and stock struts. i don't know the drop because they were coilovers and drop it until i get a finger gap. it ran fine over bumps, but on sharp turns...it rubs big time.
in my experience, 17" with cheap suspensions are a "no no". get high performance suspensions if you are going that route. or sell your 17" and get smaller wheels.

Man, I'd like those wheels if they were 16s.

You will not find anyone here that is really interested in that kind of thing. 99% of the people on Honda-Tech.com are into some form of racing or just nice clean cars and not all out show-boats. But to each his own....just don't post pics in here...go to the appearance and cosmetics section when your trial time is up.

sell thoose rims, stock rims, steelies, and spend all the money on handling, as said before.. ground controls + koni yellows is great. Have you stripped off any weight ?
and the avtar with the neon lights and such.. your car does'nt have neons on it does it....

Those wheels are nice. Try and trade for some 16"s or something. I love my ground control and koni set up. Drew Mota what weight can you strip?

To figure out your power to weight ratio:
1. Determine vehicles weight, curb weight/MT w/o driver, gross weight w/driver
2. Determine vehicles horsepower
3. Determine vehicles torque
4. Divide the weight of your car(w/driver) by the horsepower
(Your answer will be the weight required to lose in order to get about 1 HP)
5. Divide the weight of your car by the torque
(Your answer will be the weight required to lose in order to get about 1 lb-ft of torque)
Now for the stripping:
OEM passenger seat w/brackets
rear seat and cushion
rear seatbelt brackets
head unit/speakers
floor mats
spare tire trunk liner
spare tire and jack
OEM fuel tank(1 gallon of fuel = 6.2lbs, replace with smaller tank)
power steering
headliner
air conditioning
door panels
driver's seat(replace w/racing seat, duh!)
factory battery(replace with lightweight performance battery)
exhaust components(aftermarkets are lighter)
OEM crank pulley(see above)
OEM hood, doors, and trunk(or hatch)
OEM wheels(another duh)
OEM flywheel
sound deadening material
dash support
roof support webbing
door beams/side impact
rear speaker/side panel metal support
misc. brackets(ECU bracket, fuse box bracket. etc.)
remove extra firewall layers(only need one for racing)
race motor mounts brackets

Race only. You can use some for daily driving(removing sound deadening material, cf hoods, trunks, floor mats) Just pick and choose the ones you want for daily driving.
