Need help please read...
Today all of a sudden on my ls HB the check engine light came on. I pulled over check everything and noticed that smoke was coming out of the alternator not from the Green plug but from the big thick cable that screws on top of the alternator. I think is ground it was melting. I turned the car off. Now I wonder if this how usually the alternator goes out? Or what do you guys think the problem is electricians please help
Also for the last 2 days my battery kept getting discharge it was old. So I thought instead of recharging the old battery just get a new one and I did that fixed the problem with the battery. I don't know if this might be related.
As far as any electric work done to the car all I did was install some JDM fog lights but I don't think this cause the problem I did everything right. I connected them from the corner parking lights/blinkers. There are 3 cables on the blinker red, black, and green. I wire the fogs to red (power) and black (ground). They work with no problems properly but I thought I'll mention it, just incase you guys think this caused the problem I don't think it did but you never know.
Help please I need to know if this is normal from an old alternator and if all I have to do is replaced it or if it might be something else don't know..

Re: Need help please read... (POWERINTEGRA)
I've replaced the alternators on all three of my cars. One is a Chevy and the others are Hondas. None of which had the smoking ground.
How does it feel? Does it seem like you need an alternator.. dimming lights.. etc?
When you changed batteries, did you mess with the alternator/cables at all? Possible you didnt re-ground it properly? I dont know man, I'm just throwing stuff out there.
