Need help to make my car a little quicker
I have seen many cars on here, most I like.
I see many swaps in hatches, turbo's and all kinds of great things.
I went to the local track closest to my house yesterday and I am amazed. I want to continue to go. I went with my friend who owns a civic. It seems like every civic out there had I/H/E, and that was it.
I would love to take my civic out there but its an auto and its stock. I know that people will suggest a tranny swap or a motor swap, or even trading my car for something else, but at the moment I dont want to do all that. I plan on selling the car a little down the road.
I know that If I even try to do anything im not going to be the quickest out there, I just would like to be able to actually compete with some people. Most civics were running 10's, this is in the 1/8th. Most around mid 10's, and the fastest ones were low 10's. None were in the 9's.
Now my car being an auto and stock, what would it take to get me in the 10's? Maybe even in the 9's (if thats even possible). It seems like no one out there actually had real work done to their cars, just an intake and exhaust. Even though my car is an auto, id be willing to do some work. Just no swap or selling the car.
Now whatever your suggestions may be, Id like this to be reliable, I drive my car around all day long.
I would just like to be able to go out there and compete and have fun rather than sitting and watching the whole time.
Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions.

Re: Need help to make my car a little quicker (Quick EX)
My suggestion would be to buy basic bolt ons and save the original stuff. Also take out anything you don't need to save on wieght. That should make you feel quicker...

Very good advice--I can't even begin to add up all the $$$ I spent on cars I don't own anymore.
But if you do end up keeping the car, I would first take it to the track bone stock and make a few runs to get a baseline and to practice your launch technique. Don't be afraid to take a stock car to the track, either, it's not like "they're all gonna laugh at you" or anything. Then start making improvements like CAI, cat-back, header, and so on--taking it to the track after each mod if u can to see exactly what's helping the most.
