Need Help With Engine Compatibility.
Hello fellow civic lovers. Currently I'm driving a 1993 1.5 L civic EX coupe. But, I live in new england so our winter road treatment methods, as some of you may know, have taken a major toll on my body condition. Anyways, I am buying the exact same car just without rust problems. The only thing is the 1.5 doesn't thrown me in my seat like i wish. So... I'm looking for a 1.8 Acura engine. I found a nice 99' for $600, but I know SOME things, and that's an OBDII and that would blow ***** cuz I'm not looking to do an entire harness swap. What I would really like is for anyone with any know how to inform me on what the most compatible 1.8 is for my car so the swap is as basic as possible and most of all, what platform I will find it in. I wouldn't mind a 1.6 DOHC Vtec if the swap would be easier. thanks for the help.

P.S.
I would also like to know about tranny, drive shaft, header/exhaust, and shifter linkage compatibility. I would like to not have to change much of that. I'm trying to stay away from custom apps. (besides engine mount cuz I don't think I can help that) because I don't have that much money to pull the swap off.

is it a gsr (1.8 liter dohc vtec)? if its just an ls (1.8 liter non-vtec), then you can use your harness...not sure about the obd2 to obd1 conversion (im not a big fan of wires lol). and no...all b-series swaps are pretty much the same. the only differences are wiring.
and for a b-series swap...you need integra axles & shift linkage, b series tranny, ecu, and stock integra mounts. im pretty sure thats all you need.

Re: Need Help With Engine Compatibility. (slo_hatch)
So basically if it's the LS (i think it is) then I should just get the whole front clip cuz i'm going to need the mounts, axles, tranny, and ECU. If I can use my harness that would be the best, even though I'll have the dash out soon anyways. my new civic has the butt ugly tan interior so I'm swapping my old ones black in right away.

the easiest swap wince this is obviously your first one would be an ls swap.. you dont need to rewire anything, you can use your old harness etc. you dont need the whole clip, its not that big of a deal. check the FAQ at the top of the civic page and you can read all about swaps, whats needed and how to do them etc.
