Need help deciding... Engine vs. Suspension
Ok, before I had the opportunity to get an LS/Vtec, I was going to finish my suspension setup before I did engine work. I was going to get Tein SS coilovers, SRR LCAs, Energy suspension master bushing kit, Comptech Rear Sway Bar/Tie bar combo, JIC Magic front and rear strut tower bars and a few other little things. Just basically getting some things out of the way before the engine because I will be going to WYOTECH in July and was going to paint it Type R white. So I wanted to get the painting done before I swapped the engine. What does everyone think I should do??? This engine is a good deal, but I really wanted to get the suspension done, and now I can't decide.

I wanted to try something new and do Auto-x, but I've mainly done drag racing (not with this car of course). But I would also like to do drag racing with this car, just to see what it can do.

That's kinda what I was thinking, which is why I wanted to do the suspension first. But then again, how often do you find an engine like this for that price, ya know? I'm torn!!!

Re: Need help deciding... Engine vs. Suspension (CNY Hatch)
Also, the engine comes with EVERYTHING to set it up, and even has an ACT clutch. I think I am leaning towards suspension first though... all the input definitely helps though, keep it comin!

Re: Need help deciding... Engine vs. Suspension (CNY Hatch)
I would personally do some suspension work first... but I would not go with tein ss, the shocks are decent but the spring rates are too soft.
are you getting teins just so you can say you have them?
why do you want srr lca's? for more bling?
comptech rear sway bar? why not an adjustable one like the suspension techniques?
jic magic front and rear towerbars? why not a autopower rollbar or cage or ebay bars?
I suggest you do more homework before you spend alot of money on products that would give you more mental horsepower/performance than actual performance.

Ebay bars... you're kidding right? Most of those are worse than DC Sports strut tower bars...
As for the Tein SS's, I'm looking for a comfortable ride because this is my daily driver, so I have reason behind buying them...
SRR LCAs, bling yes, funtionality as well. 2 lbs lighter... sorta sucks, I could take a **** before I race and make up that weight, but they are also stronger than stock.
Comptech sway bar/tie bar... already have it... I heard this one won't create sub-frame tear as much as some of the others on the market... (someone told me that, and it sounds bad, which is why I chose this sway bar)

$1800 for the engine built, or $1500 if I want to have someone put it together for me.

Umm... never heard of autopower... but my hatch will be getting a custom roll CAGE sometime after July of '04 while I'm in Wyotech... possibly a full tube chassis if I play my cards right. Everything I do like that is extra credit anyway, so I might as well take advantage.

Re: Need help deciding... Engine vs. Suspension (CNY Hatch)
i went to suspension route. it makes for a much better feel when driving, but now my car is **** slow and i am trying to save money to get faster. i say if you have money for both then do both if not then just get the engine. i know it is crazy but right now i rather have a faster car then what i have now. i doesnt matter if you can turn well when you get rolled

Re: Need help deciding... Engine vs. Suspension (nijia555)
I just suggested ebay bars because some people must have bars and ebay bars are nice and cheap, and many people believe those bars dont do anything except add weight and waste your $$$
yep, gotta watchout for subframe damage from some sway bars
have you thought about brake upgrade also?

Re: Need help deciding... Engine vs. Suspension (Mr Milano)
I know... I'll have a good mix when I'm finished, but what I want to do first and what I can afford right now is my biggest concern. That's why I was looking for a few opinions.
