Need HELP ASAP with my car!!!!!!!!!
i just swapped in a 1996 b18b1 into my 1999 honda civic ex. i had to get a si engine wiring harness in order to hook up the Dizzy. ive been running a 1.6 sohc ECU because the LS ECU i got was OBD2a and wouldnt plug in. now i just got my OBD2b LS ECU and went to plug it in and now my car wont start at all. it will start with the 1.6 ecu but not the 1.8, im so confused on what the problem is.
here is my set up.
1996 LS motor/ tranny (i used a si wiring harness to run the car)
1997 GSR dizzy
00-01 ls ecu
SI axels
the only thing i can think of that would be the problem is the GSR dizzy has 9 wires coming out of it and going into a plug. now the SI wiring harness has 8 wires going into a plug. they plug in perfect but im thinkin my car wont start because of this 9th wire not connected. its a thick solid light blue wire.
Does anyone have any input into what the problem can be??? like i said my car will run on a 1.6 ex ecu but not the 1.8 ls ecu. any and all help is wanted. thanks

First thing I would check out, would of course be the ecu (did it run ok in the other car, if you don't know check in out in a friends) the thick blue wire should be for your tach & the car should run with out it. So I would check the ECU out if it's good than I would recomend a good shop. Thease things can be a real headache & would I recomend professional help.

Seeing as the problem occured when you switched ECUs, that is the first thing to troubleshoot. Try the ECU in another car, or try another ECU in your car.
If that is not the problem, let us know, and we'll start troubleshooting somewhere else.

it should at least try to start. perhaps the problem lies in the swap itself. being the engine is an obd2a and ur car is an obd2b. 96-98 is different in some way but not all compared to 99-00. i had this sort of trouble before too. maybe u should try an obd2b distributor?

Re: (jdm951EK4)
i just got off the phone with both Acura and Honda and they both said it might be the dizzy. they said it might be because im running a v-tec dizzy and a non-vtec ecu. they said to try an OBD2b dizzy on the motor and see if that works. other than that i dont know what else to try.
