so change the starter out? also the ls motor has a gsr tranny and also noticed that on the bottum next to the oil pan its either the fly wheel or the tranny is exposed or should it be covered up?

worst case scenario would be a broken Tbelt... so pull off the distributor cap and try starting it, if the rotor turns your ok, if not well... not so ok.
Also like dud said the start might not be engaging the flywheel, try bumping the flywheel by turning the crank or push start the car.

I would try the starter and see what that does make sure its hitting the flywheel teeth or not and that plate you're talking about is a factory thing most ppl that do trannys swaps get lazy and dont put the plate back but then again I dont know if the plates are different for each tranny or not so but u dont have to have it there is nice to have when rocks are around

Re: need help (LifeMage)
ya cause thats what it sounds like and u said your buddy was driving so I dont think the timing belt would brake right once he got in the driveway so unless it was on it hard and it stopped workin then had it towed home idk its your timing belt at all

Re: need help (cln92eg)
it worked properly. we towed it home on a dolly (about an hour and a half drive.) backed it off the dolly and also he pulled it out earlyer today before i came over to wash the car off and such

Re: need help (LifeMage)
thats weird ya just check your timing belt and ya starter see if its loose or not but i cant see why it would just do that

Re: (LifeMage)
it could be the starter, could also be a chipped flywheel. if there are enough broken teeth on the flywheel there would be a dead spot where the starter doesnt touch anything. Pull the inspection plate and turn the motor over one full revolution while looking at the flywheel.
