need head cam cap bolt torque values
can anyone tell me the torque numbers for the head cam caps intake and ex. bolts on a 1994 civic 1.5? also the valve lash setting.cold. the crank pulley also has 3 marks together and one by itself which seems to be tdc . I want to be sure that the timing is set right when i put it back together. Im a v8 guy so this is kinda new to me. Do the head bolts need sealant? it dosnt look like they go into any waterjackets> shes got 380000miles on er and will rise again! burnt an ex valve...im shootin for a half million miles. mabey honda will do a comercial on it when i get there and give me a free car for advertising. it has the original clutch but the thro bearing is gettin noisy. Thanks for the help.

start with a helms manual. I can't believe you're working on a car without one.

8mm bolts:
D16Z6, D15Z1 engines: 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm)
D15B7, D15B8 engines: 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm)
6mm bolts:
All engines: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm)
The three marks are for setting ignition timing..
The mark by itself is TDC and BTW Honda engines run counter-clockwise..
[Something that confused me when I first played with one..]
PS>Apply engine oil to the threads of the head bolts...

thanks 88dxcrx and sohckiller.. good info. I got it back together and it got all its lost power and fuel mileage back. you should have seen the carbon buildup in the ports and on the valves.. I cant believe it ran.. Tis good to be your own mechanic.. the money i save!! now on to the clutch.

Re: (88DXCRX)
helmet you feind, what have you done to my daughter?
You see its not as it seems, if you do not give me the combination to the airshield, dr schlotkin will give your daughter back her old nose.
