In Need of a DIY Writeup
I just tried searching for it and failed at finding what I am looking for.
I have a 2000 civic DX/VP Auto sedan. Its completely stock in every way except for the indiglo gauge faces, intake, Si wheels, and a stereo.
I just bought a CRV Cluster for it (i believe its the 1997-01 Gen Cluster). I'm told that it is a direct bolt in swap... my question is this.
I want to retain the original mileage, I remember someone a while back posting up a DIY on how to take the cluster apart to adjust the mileage (or swap from the original cluster or something)..
If anyone knows how to do this.. OR where to find a write up of this.. please help me.
Thanks in Advance!

Re: (DxBurnoutKing)
you mean retaining the mileage of the original cluster?
by way of rolling forward or back the new cluster so that it matches the old one.
its illegal to change a clusters mileage under any circumstances as far as i know

Re: (TooManyTickets)
Only people that could do it legally is the dealer, they give you a pretty sticker and with it.
Theres write ups out there on how to do it. One thing you could do is swap the odo itself, i believe its the same set up.

nice write up but i dont think its worth getting caught for fraud(if you sell the car)*
At least in CA its fraud if you don't either:
- set new odo to correct milage
- set new odo to zero miles and affix notice of difference to driver's door sash.
So it's better to do this than just swap clusters.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I find it funny since the only way to know the mileage changed is if it got set back (rollback fraud), got done by a shop (sticker applied) or you kept the miles exact... I can say for sure rolling the odometer is simple and I only condone it if to keep the mileage exact for the car.
if you look at the cluster you can see the lil finger gears above the odometer holding the numbes in place..... it's really easy to figure out, the how-to post got it's information edited so I'll leave it to "imagination".

what i mean is I want to remove the odometer part of my original DX cluster and replace the CRV odometer with my original one, so that my mileage isnt even off by a tenth of a mile.
thats what i'm trying to do.
*edit: I should have stated..
My DX Dash has a few things wrong with it.
1. Its a DX cluster.. no tach.
2. It had indiglo gauge faces GLUED on.. and then the indiglo part burnt out.. leaving me with white gauge faces.
3. The gauge faces are kind of off center, so my gas needle reading is always a little off.
the reason why I want the CRV Cluster.
1. It was only 30 bucks (compared to over 200 for an Si Cluster)
2. It glows Amber and is stock in apprearance.
3. It has a tach.
The only thing that is wrong here is that the CRV Cluster has 123,000 miles and my Civic only has 82,XXX... i'm sure as hell not going to wait around till 123k to swap this cluster, hence why i need the writeup on how to do the odo swap.
