Default my z6 pistons in my d16y8 motor?good idea? please reply im doing work tomm.!!

Hey guys i need your help. I have a d16y8 that im putting in my 95 ex. i was thinking of putting the z6 pistons in the d16y8 to higer the c/r.

Is this a good idea to gain power? Will it raise my c/r and is it safe?

Please help!!

No, its not a good idea.

Z6 pistons = 3.0mm dish
Y8 pistons = 2.1mm dish

Bigger dish = less compression. The best pistons to throw in your Y8 motor would be the D16A6 pistons from the 88-91 Civic/CRX Si.

No, it would. Because you need more boost to make up for the lower compression, so you'd want to get forged pistons and upgrade the rods if you were going to lower the compression.

then whats the point of the gaskets that make ur comp. lower? isnt that the same thing?

You still want High compression, but an enginge like this cant handle too much compression and turbo or supercharge. The thinner gaskets made for a higher compression are more prone to damage than thicker ones. But its all a matter of how you handle the rods etc. Someone correct me if im wrong, but if you sleeve the block, get heavy duty rods and heads, you could turbocharge the engine and make the compression higher, (also need new cams, valve springs, and probably some more work done) but that would basicly bullet proof your engine.
