I just got a vtec head from a bud. I plan to do a full build up if its not broken...

Well i was told it has some bent valves so i was pouring break cleaner in the ports and seeing if they leaked and exhaust port number 4 just drained like a faucet. The port closest to the dizzy has the valve guide hole, and then approximately 90 degrees there is another hole that runs to the circular hole directly next to the vtec solenoid, is this suppose to be there?

Also I was told this was a z6 head, but i was under the impression the z6 ran from 92-95 and this head has the number 96 in the upper right corner of the head (exhaust side), so is it a y8 head possibly. thanks

i don't know the answer to your first question but you were under the right impression. my '95 civic's stock motor had the z6 head on it. only thing about it, i didn't know if the head was a swap. but when I bought it thats how i found it. now it has a new engine.

yes, there's 2 little holes in there...I don't know what they do, but they're there

the block the head came off of was a z6...now that i think about it the owners before it...who knows what happened to the car or engine. they were both in horrible shape when my friend picked the car up. i guess it could have been a y8 head on a z6 block...but i doubt it.
