Default Is it my TPS or my ECU?

I replaced my tps, cause i was throwing a code that said something about my tps, so I checked it before I pulled it off and got only like .02 so I replaced it and am getting the same reading. Could this be my ecu? WHen I had the old tps sensor on i couldn't rev past 2500 rpms? Should I change my ecu? Any help would be great. THanks.

gentlemen...how does one calibrate their tps?.....i know a few people with swaps and have an idle problem....info would be great..

never heard of having to re-calibrate this before...broken=replace it...recalibrate???? help me out if there is an answer

my car threw a CEL 7 (TPS) and my car runs fine. do i need to replace it?

If you check the voltage on the wrong wires, it wont read the same. Make sure you are checking on the proper wires. Also, the TPS is a potentiometer, so if you can slightly rotate it on the TB, it will adjust the voltage.

yea it should read .5 at idle and 4.5 at wot.. (use a multimeter)
and you have to make sure you put it in right cause if you dont nomatter how far you adjust it it wont get high enough at idle.. alot of people make that mistake because your kinda putting it in blind if the engine, and tb are still on the car.

I was throing a tps code saying it was negitive or something like that. I tried to recalibrate my tps, my new one and I can only get like .02 at idle and .08 at wot. I dont know whats going on. I talked to a guy who had the same problem that I did, he couldnt rev past 2500 either. He said he had to replace his ecu and everything was fine. I am getng a new ecu, i'm converting to obd1 while I'm at it. I have no idea what to do know. Any help would be great.

make sure the dial on the back of the tps is on the tap on the tb right.. it can go on wrong

I have a similar problem.

My idle is around 1700 RPM at operating temp. I never got a code or anything from my TPS, but my idle screw was fine and I couldnt get any help from anyone or anything worthwhile from my searches. I bought a used TPS from ebay, installed it today, and now I have a check engine light (code 7..TPS). I have tried resetting my ECU and that did not fix it. When I rotate my TPS, the throttle cable wheel (i dont know what it is actually called) turns also. Is it supposed to do this? When it is like this my idle when it is turned as far counterclockwise as it can go it still at 1700-2K. Clockwise just raises it further. I tried installing it in a way which teh cable wheel would not turn when the TPS was turned, and it made no difference to the RPM at all.

I did not have a ECU code untill I changed the TPS. I disconnected my battery for the night, and in the morning I am going to reconnect it and let it idle for 30 minutes without me messing with the throttle at all and hoefully that will fix the idle problem. I doubt it will, but that is what BBK Tech dept. told me to do.

I have a BBK TB by the way....on my 1st gen B16.
