Default my shocks are dead???

i was driving on the highway (b16a sir2 eg hatch) and i went over some bumps at about 74 m/p/h. 5 minutes later, the car started to shake and it feels like its shaking from the driverside wheel. when i let go of the gas petal, the shaking stops, when i press on the gas petal, the shaking starts again. i recently just put in new gsr axles on both side, but im running on the stock shocks and springs that came with the car. when we took the wheel off to look, the shock seem to be leaking where the 2 part connects, a little above the wish bone. so im thinking the shock on that side is dead, any advice would be helpful. oh and we checked the passenger side shock as well and it's not leaking either. thanks

doesn't sound like shocks tho, cuz how come it only does it when you press on the gas? my friends accord with broken axle does that too.

that's what im thinking as well, but its brand new axles, just replaced it 2 weeks ago, so it cant be the axles, and like you said, it only shakes when pressing on the gas petal, but the shock was leaking some kind of oil. not too sure though

could be axle grease. Just because it's new doesn't mean it can't break. Hard to tell, but doesn't seem like a shock problem

just got done checking the axles, and nope its not it. everything is put back and the noise (shaking) is still there. while the car was still on jackstands, we ran it in 5th gear about 50 miles/p/h and the shaking still occured (note: this is while the car is off the ground) so it doesnt necessarily have to do with the type of road we're on and that eliminates the chances of the tires having any problems. remember, the gsr axles are brand new (got them from napa) and we examined them and they dont look broke and act broken. so anyone else have any ideas, could it be the transmission (clutch is very good and it shifts very smoothly and the gearbox is still good, no grinds), so any other ideas would be helpful

Tires are out of balance. Classic symptom. If you aren't convinced, run it up next time with the front wheels off the car.

alright, i tried that and it still shakes, but considerable less than when i had the tires on. i checked the mounts and they look to be fine (no rips or movements), the axles are fine, not spinning out of the ordinary...anyone else got any ideas i can try

Engine assembly isn't shaking, right? You took the wheels off, so they weren't the SOURCE of the problem; just made the shaking worse. So, the shakes are starting between the engine assembly and the wheels. That narrows it down to the axles, CV joints, wheel bearings, discs, et cetera.

My guess is the axle[s], since the shaking started after you installed them. Hrm...

yeah, that's what we're thinking as well. tomorrow, we're going to try starting the car with out the axles hooked up to see if the shaking continues, we're thinking if it does happen, then it must be something with the tranny/engine, but if it doesnt shake then, no doubt its got to be the axles, cv joints, or the wheel bearings. the thing is that they look all right, not loose or broken whatsoever. but i will post what happens later
