Default My shift **** sits crooked...

I have a Skunk2 weighted shift **** and after you screw it on, the shift pattern not centered. It sits horizontally, instead of vertically. It's tighted, but should I use excessive force to turn it to make it centered?
I'll get pictures if needed. But it honestly reminds me of this pic. Thanks in advance!

i think there is supposed to be a lock nut that goes on before the ****(lol), this allows you to make it tight and centered
