Engine misfires in any throttle position but idle
Hi, I have a B16A2 with a P72 ECU (all ODB2). I notice that I can start my car and drive it around without touching the throttle, but as soon as I hit the gas pedal it starts misfiring.
Any idea which things I should troubleshoot first?

p72 is for a b18c1, but I would imagine that it would run ok on the gsr ecu, and just be a little pissed off about the lower vtec engagement point...was it running ok and started doing this? if that is the case, check your plugs and your plug wires...any CEL's? or codes?

It's been running great for years now. The lower VTEC engagement point issue is fixed by a V-AFC which I use solely for changine the VTEC x-over.
Wires, cap, distributor, all look fine. No DTC/CEL. I'll check the plugs next.

Re: Engine misfires in any throttle position but idle (HAMOTORSPORTSUSA)
Thanks guys. If I had the wiring mixed up, I'm sure it would of showed symptoms before now.
It actually turned out to be the plug wires. I was using Accel 8mm 300+ ferro-spiral wires, and they failed after two years for no apparent reason.
I went out to buy a new rotor while I was getting replacement plug wires today at advance auto, and noticed that the GP Sorsen rotor is now all metal except for the plastic part that connects to the distributor. No more circuit board looking material with a thin strip of metal in the middle. I might buy a few more of these to stock up.
