Lightweight pulleys lack a harmonic damper so at certain RPMs, your motor will be creating a vibration that is damaging to the engine.
The crank can be considered as internally balanced. However, the information you were given is wrong.

Re: is my motor internally balanced? (suspendedHatch)
i have gotten so many different answers on this topic i don't know who to believe, lol. some people said it wont do anyrhing, others say if its internally balanced it will be fine and now your saying that it does not matter if its internally balanced it will still harm the motor. i thought that it would be fine if it was internally balanced because i asked a guy who has been working at a machine shop by my house for over 20 years and he said it should be ok if it is internally balanced.
