my Ek Has wierd stuff in radiator!!! LOOK
my ek (96 civic) dx.... just changed the headgasket becaouse the raiator kept getting full of nasty dirty water. i dont know exactly what it is but it keeps doing it. i changed the water everyday for 3 weeks and the car would still get hot and overheat. and the coolant keeps getting dirty. i havent drove it yet but i replaced the head gasket and torqued the head bolts down to 50ft/lbs. is that right? d16y7. Let me know whta you think could be the problem. help would be greatly appreciated!!!

define dirty? do you see oil? have you checked your oil lately? Any leaks? You are correct on the torque spec on the head but did you torque it in steps?

Im going to guess yes and since they are strecthed the head is not sealing properly and headgasket probally took a sh*t. Just a guess though

Are u burning anything? how do the piston tops look? if there shinny ur burning water, my guess would be a combination of blowin head gasket and use of oem head bolts, NEVER REUSE OEM HONDA HEAD BOLTS

Re: (burnitdown)
i used the same head bolts. its a stick, had alot of carbon build up on the valves, not to much black on top of pistons, other than that runs good now. there is a vacuum thing sticking out of the far right side of the intake manifold (DX). has ALOT OF SUCTION and when i plug it with my finger the car dies. what goes to that???

You def. do not want to reuse the head bolts. They are a one time use thing. Should have got ARP's. Cheaper than OEM.

piston rings has nothing to do with dirty water...the water in the jackets should never come in contact with your rings. if it does you have bigger problems than dirty water.
did you send the head out to get resurfaced?
driving on a blown head gasket and constantly overheating it will cause the head to get warped.
