Why am I still overheating? This is rediculous......
I just replaced the head gasket in my car for the third time. I have replaced everything in the cooling system, radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan, coolant, and it still overheats. I have bleed the sytem several hundred times. I have the fan hot wired to run constant. I have done everything humanly possible and it still overheats. The head gasket is not blown. I used ARP head bolts and copper spray. Torqued to 60 ft. lbs in the proper sequence. There is no oil in the water and there is no water in the oil.
I have a blockguard, but I have also drilled the coolant holes in it as far as they can go. There is no way that could be the problem. The holes in it are as big as they can go.
Why am I still overheating? There is no reason for this.
Please help me. I'm done. I have done everything possible to try and fix this and nothing works.

you might need to go with a Integra gsr radiator. I was told it cools quicker due to it holding more coolant. check out http://www.coolradiator.com

I have them both and it did not help me at all. I have a front mount and had a dual core civic radiator and I guess the problem was the engine would draw the coolant faster than the rad could cool it. I have a Alumn GSR with 2 10" slim fans allways on and I have no problems anymore.
Ide say get the bigger radiator, and another fan.

integra radiator is pretty good with keeping my motor kool... my temp needle goes only up to 30-35% even on hot days... where as my stock used to go over 1/2 when im driving on a inclind...
give the radiator a try(thats if you dont already hve one)....
my 2 cent

I had a radiator in it that was twice as thick as the stock one. It didn't seem to help. My car overheats like crazy and it doesn't cool down. One thing I can't understand is the heater stops working every once in a while. I bleed it over and over again and it still has all these problems. I even unhooked the radiator and ran a hose through it at full pressure to see if it flows good and it did. I don't know what to do. I was almost thinking about taking my intercooler out to see if it is blocking too much air, but I have the fan wired to run constant and that doesn't help.

you have a boosted b7, it's going to run hot. the engine is notorious for it. I have IHE only and with new rad, fan, lines and I run just under half all the time, no boost or internal mods, just the way an old b7 will run.

on the block guard was it pre-drilled for the coolant hole or was it done after?
did you have this problem b4 or after the block guard was installed. Or was the turbo and bg installed at the same time?

ah don't worry about the heat, my built ls turbo in my eg runs super hot as well. some of the things that can help you are to keep the under hood temps down by fabricating a heat shield, vented hood, thermal wrap for turbo/manifold/downpipe. try doing some of these as they will help.

Re: (shermanyang)
how fast does it heat up? and did you get an accurate read from a shop that will test your stock gauge vs. an actual thermomoter. maybe its just the gauge or the gauge sender

Re: (akumaracer)
The blockguard was in for about 3 months before this started happening. I took the head off and drilled the blockguard out as far as I could. That didn't help.
I have a new radiator cap.
I don't think it would be safe to run it like this. After about 15 minutes of driving the needle sky rockets to hot and stays there until you shut it down to cool off. It starts detonating when it gets that hot.
It doesn't matter what I do it still overheats. I'm thinking about rigging up a second radiator. The POS will probably still overheat.
I don't belive this motor should run that hot. It can't be safe. I have changed the cluster and the temp gauge still does the same thing.

I had a monster double core in ti and that didn't help. There really isn't any room for anything bigger. I'm seriously thinking about running lines from the heater core to a second radiator in the trunk. This is getting out of hand.

Have you tryed a fluidyne radiator </TD></TR></TABLE>
What do you mean by a real reading? Do you mean the gauge giving me false readings? I'm sure it is overheating because the performance goes to sh*t and it detonates. One thing is it never spews out of the overflow. Shouldn't it spew out if it overheats? I don't think anything ever comes out of it.

I had the same problem with my civic. I would suggest getting the head/block resurfaced for straightness/smoothness. Maybe that will help. I know when I did that to mines..it never overheated again. But that is just a suggestion. good Luck!

you need a larger raditor
this is a common problem with nissans that are boosted and have front mounts.
the heated air comming through the intercooler isnt cooler than the radiator so it essientally dosent cool anything.

I had the head resurfaced. The block looked good on a straight edge.
I would like to try everything possible before pulling the block becasue if pulling the block doesn't fix it I would be super pissed.
If that was the problem wouldn't I have oil in the water or water in the oil? I'm seriously doubting the gasket is leaking. I used a healthy coating of copper spray this time.

Over heating? Ever heard of the CRYO2 ? I know it is used to cool the Air intake and Intercoller but I am sure this can be adapted to cool the Coolant.
What kid of Coolant are you using BTW? I know I have seen the Racers turn on the heater vents when the car starts to get hot during an endurance race.

The more I read the more it sounds like the coolant is not circulating thru the system. If the thermostat is good than I am at a loss to.
Maybe drill a few holes thru the thermostat. Or even try run with out one?
Just a thought
Good luck

Re: (rolow)
Right now there is no thermostat. I tried to run it without one. It seems to take a little longer to overheat, but it still overheats. This is while the heater is running full blast and the fan is running constant. It's hot as hell out right now and I'm cruising around with the heater on.
