I just replaced the o2 sensor in my civic and it stopped throwing the code. after about 350 miles it started acting funny. At like 3k sometimes it loses power like its stalling..it backfires a bit then takes off like a bat out of hell. This happens in every gear when i try to accelerate through 3k-4k. Before i fixed the o2 it was getting like 15 mpg now its getting mad good gas mileage..but this shitty-ness is happening....

Truthfully, I bet ya it's running right. The powerbands are funky on these motors.

no way man...this isnt normal....it reminds me of the time i driove my other civic through like 2 feet of water. Only this hits 4k and its fine...

----btw this is a b16a with a virgin ecu...in case that matters. Im going to check the adjustable cam gears tommorow and see if they slipped...i dunno

This happened to a friend of mine and his fuel pump was going out.

But this also sounds like timing/spark problem. Check your firing order and timing.

This happened to me...turned out to be a injector going...it would stall and feel like it had no power then BAM fast as hell....

You DID replace the sparkplugs that had been exposed to a bad mixture due to the bad O2 sensor didnt ya?

I was having a similar problem, but now my car won't even start. It was doing this exact thing too. I'd like to find out what it could be. I guess I need to check the injectors.

plugs and wires...but i did it a couple days before the o2 sensor. Im going to cheack the timing/plugs/wires right now. Maybe a clogged fuel filter???

sometimes...loose grounds could cause some crazy ****...check your grounds

but i'd say it's in your ignition system too...

ya its not so much a solid backfire...but more of a gurgle....haha whatever. I checked the plugs and they look like its running lean so im going to change the fuel filter because i have a feeling its NEVER been changed and it feels like its running out gas or something.

day off tommorw...and of course....tinkering with the honda.

I dont think it will be the fuel filter. I experienced this when I first turbo'd my car. It ended up being the fuel pump. I replaced fuel filter, and injectors before i found out it was the pump.

well im going to start w/ cheap first...then go to fuel pump. I dont think its the fuel pump b/c it gets all bogged down then if i hammer on i, it gets some power back.

FIXED! woot! it was the filter...19.99 at autozone and 20 minutes of my time.

ok so i have kind of been having the same problem I had only 3 codes on me ecu 02 sensor and the other two were p0401 for my egr I took it apart i cleaned the egr also changed the 02 sensor as well as all my spark plugs now using ngk and the frist day i started it it sounded good drove great fast as hell i start it today to drive to work and it sits and idles ok for a minute and then all of the sudden goes crazing like missing or mabey it could be a back fire im not sure plz help im getting so mad at it
