Try to add the color of your car and any other exterior mods; CF hood, trunk, CTR headlights things of that nature. I'm not from NY but I'm pretty sure a 1996 Civic with Si rims is pretty common.

Wow, I hate to be the bearer of bad news or sound like an ******* but "you need this car back?"
You WON'T get that car back - on a good 60% chance that it won't be drivable, 10% chance that it'll be drivable, and of course the remaining 30% chance that you'll never see it again.
If you NEED a car that you can't have stolen due to work or whatever, don't buy a civic, they're the most commonly stolen cars in America.
So I'm sorry, it's happened to me, it's happened to a lot of people. Though instead of waiting by the phone I suggest you start calling in resources to get some $$ together for another car. If it's THAT important that you need it to be out there every day, you have TWO and ONLY TWO options:
A) Don't buy a civic, they're ridiculously easy to steal
B) Don't upgrade your civic, the more you make it look nicer, the more thieves want to steal it because they know they can sell the parts off it for a lot of quick $$$$ - which goes back to A).
Sorry man.
EDIT:
PS: Please don't somebody come in here and try feeding me some bullshit about this 700 dollar alarm they have that's got 8 way paging, and it'll suck ur dick, etc. etc. 'Cause ironically enough even when they're installed on civics with all the mercury switches, tilt sensors, shatter sensors, etc. - they still manage to get stolen.

Maybe not right now but for the last decade and a half they've been up there in the top 10. Pretty sure in '04 they were most commonly stolen.
They're always up high though.

Stop trying to say Hondas aren't a commonly stolen car, they are, simply the posts about it on H-T are enough proof of that. Though DAMN, on that top 100 list, there's A LOT of Hondas in the top 35 I posted there.

Re: (Syndacate)
Not every part of the US carries the same risks. Out where I live, in the boondocks, the most common stolen vehicles are almost all pickup trucks.
I suspect hillbillies don't steal Hondas because they might be seen while driving one - what would mamma think, after her boy was caught drivin' one of them furrin' cars?
To the OP - if you a chance of anyone spotting your car, you need to give more information on it. Pictures are best, but listing any significant parts - hood, color(s), trunk, etc. - gives anyone in your area a chance of spotting your car.
I swear those Si wheels are the kiss of death. Week or two ago a Del Sol was stolen with those same wheels (recovered w/o wheels, hood, and a lot of the interior).

I feel like it's HORRIBLY off topic, don't you think?
Now I feel bad 'n all.
Though civics are a commonly stolen car, regardless of what #'s say, in what years, etc. .
It's near impossible to have a nice civic and still live in a heavy metropolitan area such as most of the CA cities.

hahaha.
I think it has to do with the general area knowledge base. In rural type areas people know domestic pickups - therefore it's easy for them to steal them, and strip them ASAP. In areas like so cal where civics are common cars (among other things) a lot of people know civics very well in so cal - so of course you're going to get a lot of people that know how to jack them and strip 'em fast.
Though that's just a theory...my theory...no actual facts or statistics there...

I don't know why, the 2005 results amused me at how a single model owns 6/10 of the top 10.
Why was the 1989 camry sought after? That interested me.
Sorry about your car More specs to give people more idea of what to look out for.
