Default My car keeps shocking me when I get out ... why?

For the last 3 days, my car has shocked me every time I close the door when I get out. It has never done this before, not once, now every single time I have the last few days it has.

It is a 2000 Civic EX coupe. I do have an Amplifier connected... but nothing has changed connection wise in months, unless something has rust or something.

In either case, what could be causing this? I don't want to become one of those statistics in gas stations that blow up as they fuel because of static or whatnot.

(for those wondering, I have been electricuted before, and while what i feel in the door is much much stronger than static, it doesnt quite tingle as much as when Ive been electricuted)

I'm pretty sure It's due to winter weather and static electricity.

Is who serious?

It is cold, and has been for several weeks now. But it has never done this, in 2 years. And it is a pretty strong shock. I was just wondering if some sort of problem in the chassis or something could have caused this because of my amp or degration or something... Doubtful since the body is a ground and it SHOULD be off... but... eh... When something happens that never has, and it happens every time... you tend to wonder.

i wouldnt worry about it,unless its like shocking you so bad you knees give out or some thing then you might want to start checking every thing out, also is you key in the ignition when you get zapped? if it keeps getting worse i would take the batter out and jump in and out to see if it still does it.my guess is static electricity again, oh and by the way myth busters solved that blowing up thing at the gas station. it want caused by static electricity at all

Its static electricity. It happens to me every winter too, I chalk it up to the fact there isnt nearly as much moisture in the air and my skin/clothes/interior rub and create all the more static, and when I get out, WHAP, I get shocked.

aite thats enough replies, it is probably just very very strong static. Though, I wonder if static cannot spark gas fumes... and has been proven, why do the tanks still have that warning on them? lol it doesnt matter lol

Thank you All, please let this thread die then, so others can have the attention.
