My 2000 Si turns off and on while i am driving. Please help!
When i push on the brake just enough to turn the brake lights on, the entire electrical shuts down the turns back on. The radio turns off an on and the guages go to zero and then pop back up to where they were. mechanics can't figure it out because it is totally random when it happens. when i have 1 brake light unplugged it doesn't happen that much. the only mod i have that could effect it is the AEM Tru Power pulleys but i believe that it was doing it before. Somebody please help!!!

In a Junkyard near you.
Could possibly be a bad ignition switch. Can you jiggle it around and make the car turn off? Give me all the details you can think of about when this happens. Since this is so vauge it's going to be hard to help but i'll try.

My old CRX used to do that when my alternator was going out. When it didn't have enought electrical power the ECU would shut everything off just to keep the engine sparking... just a thought

If it only does it when you hit the brakes, you need to start from there. Check the wiring up under the dash in that area and any other wiring associated with the brakes.

It could be my alternator but my alternator light does not appear. I had my friend who installs electrical stuff check out my brake light harness by the pedal and i checked every brake light and everything was fine. if it is the wiring, it is hidden underneath everything else. it just pisses me off and i don't want to spend anymore money and have someone tell me they can't figure it out. So please, keep replying.
And no, no fuses are blown.

did your battery alternator get tested? if not a multimeter at radio shack is like 6 bucks. 14.0v for alternator and around 12.5v for the battery.
a while back my em1, didn't start, but I jump started it to drive to work, the radio kept turning off and on, it turned out to be a bad battery...just a thought...

my alternator went out without the dash light coming on, found out the bulb behind it was out. Maybe thats the case, might as well check the alternator and find out!

If everything in the vehicle shuts off there are 2 MAIN things to do in one stop. have your battery and alternator tested. if youre alternator is dead, the battery will not run the vehicle for long, and would cause weird problems like you are describing. I would deffinitely check the battery and battery leads.
