following up from the post "Check Engine Code14 - Idle Air Control Valve" which I posted on 12.28.2006; seems like there's nothing here older than 12.30.06, not sure why that would be

anywho, the advice (from "Suck my DX") were "remove the iavc from the back of the IM...its held on by two 12mm bolts...check the screens inside" and blow them out with carb cleaner and compressed air

the IACV on this stock '96 Civic DX isn't on the "back of the intake manifold", it's mounted in front of the throttle body...and it's held on with four 8mm bolts, not two 10mm...also, there were no "screens" at all, either inside the throttle body (neither above nor below the plate) nor inside the IACV's cast aluminum cavities.

I did take the IACV off (remove the two coolant lines, four bolts, elec connection) and it did have the appropriate resistance between the three terminals (approx 20ohms)...unscrewed the electronic part (Denso part) from the cast part, saw the magentized end of the shaft and saw how the valve works...I did spray the valve with some carb cleaner and that seemed to free the valve up throughout its range of motion. Also checked the other electrical connections that the service manual calls out, they were all good...

Put it all back together and ran it around town, no surging, no CE light. Not sure what the confusion was re: screens, location, bolts etc...

ya only 96-00 's that are on the intake manifold are 5-speed y8's and b16's thats all that i know of
