Default More aftermarket radiator dilema

Hey guys, so I'm in need for a new radiator and fan (trust me, the fan is F$#@). I've been looking through the forums, eBay, as well as other radiator sites like RadiatorBarn, Radiator.com, etc...But to prevail, it's not that I cant find a radiator and fan assembly.. I'm trying to find a dual core with the right hose fitment!! It seems all aftermarket radiators inlet and outlet are 1 1/4 in and stock are 1 1/8. I found some "OEM fitment" del sol rads on eBay, but they seem too skinny for dual core, also, what's with the two nipples at the bottom? Another thing too, I think the plastic tanks would fail faster right? Here's a link to a del sol "OEM fitment" rad.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/93-97-95-HON...item416258c470

Any suggestion guys? TIA

I have heard some decent stuff about ebay alum rads, for half the price, would it be worth the trouble of muscling the hoses on there?

^^^ No...CRs and KOYOs are expensive.

http://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMRA.../dp/B001EQ7S2C

$175 too expensive??? An OEM style from Advance Auto is about $100 already. The weaklink to OEM or original Honda radiators....is the seam between the fins/coils and the upper plastic tanks. That's usually what goes bad and cracks.

Expensive? Then those links I just dumped on you must be as well. Get the Ebay rad and pray that it has the right sized inlet/outlets.

Pretty sure you're referring to where the radiator sits in the 2 holes at the bottom of the engine bay.

so...I guess buying an OEM one @ $100 is the right price and hope it doesn't crack at the seam. Buy another one later on down....wait....that's $200 already, plus the tow truck fee, another bottle of coolant, downtime, etc. Wow, people these days.

No. He's referring to the radiators for automatics that have provisions for transmission cooling. And if you buy anything like that stock it'll probably be what they send/sell you.

Mishimoto used to be an "ebay" brand. $100 isn't that bad, other noname ebay rads are $50-100. It would be quite a bit more for a Koyo or such.

The weak links in the ebay radiators seem to be the radiator caps and drain plugs. Both are easy enough to fix, just get an OEM cap and stick a bolt or NPT plug in. I just JB Welded my drain bolt in, stupid I know, but no leaks. I and some other people around here run ebay radiators on boosted Civics with no issues. I run an oem fan, it bolts right up and they pull more CFM and have a better shroud than slim fans.

what is the OEM fans CFM rate? JW.

100 isn't expensive. even so prices go up for all kinds of things.

What car and engine is this for? I'm confused on why you are having trouble finding a rad. As for the fan, you can just replace the motor. I doubt there is a problem with the blade or shroud.

He is not having trouble finding a radiator. He's finding trouble fitting a good rad into his obviously meager budget.

Yeah? So is good beer.

I strongly suggest you just buy a quality radiator and do it right the first time.

This is not a hobby for the light wallet if you hope for future success and satisfaction.

Well this is a beater for the next 2, 3 years or so...I was thinking like a $60 rad and a $30 fan set up..a lot of the Mishimoto and yoko rads are made for b series with te bigger hoses and inlet/outlet. This is for a d series eng.

If it's just a beater, just get a used radiator from a junkyard. Why spend a bunch on a new one if you dont need the extra cooling of a dual core? A larger radiator will just make you run cooler and generally that will mean worse gas mileage since the engine will take longer to get to operating temp. I've seen people run H22s on a stock Civic radiator, the half size single core. There's a guy here running a turbo gsr engine on a stock civic radiator.

And to RedArmy, I think the stock fan is rated at like 1200cfm or something. It's a little more than the slim fans, but the shroud does channel the air better and the fan blades look more aggressive at moving the air instead of the wimpy little things on the slim fans. Only speculation though, but it is fact that the oem fan does a better job.

I know i'll get **** for saying this, but just go with ebay then.
I know a few people that have had a ebay rad for 1-2 years with no issues.

A fan, dude hit the junk yard. If it's a D, you don't need anything special. Stock will do just fine.

Are you paying attention? It says it pretty much fits every Civic/Del Sol out there. When you buy it don't be surprised that only B-series hoses will fit. And the stock fan outflows most of the generic slimfans out there because of the shroud.
