Icon6 Misfire Under Acceleration, Poor Acceleration

The other night i was driving home and my car started misfiring, and i was not able to accelerate worth a crap, felt like 50% power loss. Pulled over and the converter is BRIGHT RED and smoking, so i pulled into my friends house shut it off. Let it sit overnight to cool down, checked the plugs, wires, cap, rotor (did tune up last year) and cylinder one was fouled out bad, cap and rotor had corrosion build up, so install new cap, rotor, 4 new spark plugs (NGK V-Power) and car starts and acceleration seems to have picked up but its no where near 100% and im getting a slight misfire under acceleration, (thats probably my cause for not feeling 100% power output) but, im stumped i have a test pipe arriving on monday or tuesday and im going to yank the converter out and install that (im not saying thats going to help) But all this has been happening out of no where all of a sudden and worse thing about it NO CHECK ENGINE light at all (yes it works) Im at a loss of what to do, a friend suggested replace the coil in the distributor idk can anyone help out or maybe had this situation. Thanks

Car: 2000 Civic Si
Engine: JDM B18C (GSR)
ECU: Stock OBD2 USDM GSR

maybe an injector failing or clogged up or stuck open.

your cat could be clogged and restricting air flow. this would also cause it to be bright red.

Did you check plug wires?

Get spray bottle with water in it and spray down wires and dizzy well then inside dark garage or at night get someone you trust well inside the car, start it up and look for sparks.Might have to load the engine a bit.

Well new distributor didnt fix the problem, installed new fuel pump, didnt fix the problem, removed the converter installed a test pipe, didnt fix the problem, nothing is arking, timing is on, compression is good, resistance in the wires is good, nothing is fixing the problem.... idk what to do anymore.

Wait a minute.

You're running a stock GSR ECU on a B16, and you're getting NO CELs? Something strange is going on. A stock GSR ECU should throw a CEL on a B16.

And you said you replaced the distributor? Wanted to verify because I chased no CEL misfire problems on my B20z for a long time, and it turned out to be the distributor.

Is your new test pipe overheating like your cat was? If everything that you checked is truly good, I'm starting to think maybe you have a bad TPS or something.

a bad TPS would not cause misfire or such a drop in power....I'm boggled by your problem dude.

yeah, but I'm wondering if it's not necessarily misfiring, but maybe bogging because of leaning out. Or maybe knock sensor's retarding timing for some reason. Or a possible wiring or ground problem. Or something. I'm kinda grasping at straws, but if he's replaced the whole ignition system including distributor and has good compression, then I can't see how it's misfiring at all.

I still think he needs to start by getting the right ECU for that car though. There's definitely something wrong if he's getting no CELs on an OBD2 P72 ECU on an OBD2 B16. It should at the very least throw a light for IABs on that engine unless it's been reprogrammed.

OP: Do you have the original ECU? I think it should be a P2T, right? If so, I'd plug it in and see what happens. Have you tried scanning for codes even though the CEL's not on?

well last night i decided to replace the spark plugs and it breathed life back into the engine, i drove it for 100 miles and its back to how it should be, i cant believe i overlooked something so small, and i guess lession learned if theres ever a misfire always start with cap, rotor, plugs, WIRES! Just because it passed the resistance check means nothing well thanks for the info and help guys i really appreciate it.
