Misfire/Hesitation problem. . . need help.
I just go back from Mammoth for a weekend in the snow and was happy that the tiny D15B7 engine made it up there. Anyway, during the trip I noticed that my car was experiencing some hesitation/misfiring at higher RPMs especially noticable in 3rd and 4th gear under load. Seemed to happen around 65mph in 3rd and 75mph in 4th in WOT.
Car basically accelerated, but would feel like every few seconds like a cylinder would misfire. So there would be a brief slouch/jolt as you increased in speed. This would happen about every 2 to 3 seconds. Doesn't happen while crusing, just when under heavy load, like when I was climbing the mountain or trying to pass. Could it be my spark plugs, or distributer? maybe fuel injectors? BTW, its the stock DX engine with 160,000 miles. Don't know when the last tuneup was, cuz I just bought it used. . Anything I should check first? Thanks

could be spark plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter etc
anything
my money is on the plugs.
it would be a good idea to give her a tune up.

Ok, did some more testing with my buddy. Pulled the plugs and they look clean. Found that it only hesitates when its fully warmed up. It doesn't do anything when the engine is cold. Also, it only hesitates when under load and at WOT. I tried crusing around in 2nd at 45-50mph and it runs smooth, but if you're at WOT at 45-50 its hesitating and really bad. Any ideas?
