i want to use the y7 harness and i got a sohc vtec ecu out of a 95 civic so im kinda lost on the wiring if i have to splice into any lines or i can run the wires to the ecu plug or if i could just splice all the wires into other wires

if anyone that has done the swap before could post up some pics of how they wired it up that would be great

there's this.

also, you're using a '95 OBD1 ecu with an OBD2 harness and motor. even if you wired VTEC, you're still gonna need a ecu conversion harness. they run about $75 bucks and several companies make them.

All you have to do is Wire in VTEC.
Im assuming your car is a 97, So here are the VTEC pin outs for 96-98 civic.

Like the person above said you got an OBDI ECU which youll need a conversion harness.

If thats the case then heres the pin outs for 92-95 civic.

It may be easier to get the convesion harness.
Only because if you were to get a Y8 ECU its going to throw a knock sensor code. The y7 doesnt have a knock sensor on the block.

your not actually going to splice into your harness, except cutting the loom, which you really dont have to do. And no you ant use your Y7 ecu, its not VTEC and its geared for your 190cc injectors, not the 240's the Y8 uses. Get an OBDI P28 or p06 converted to VTEC, run two wires from your VTEC solenoid to the pins on the ECU and your done.
