Default d16y8 swap complete...need help

Allrighty. Just completed my Y8 swap into my 92 Si. (my z6 was burnt). It seems to be fine, started up on the first try! I am having some nasty idling problems, most likely because my timing is out like 20 degrees! I can't turn the distributer enough to compensate....so it idels rough and variable.....

I am also recieving a code 4 from my ecu (Crank Sensor) which is located IN my distributer.

Here's my setup:

Y8 engine, with Y8 distributer, S40 transmission. Z6 ecu and wiring harness.

Got the wiring harness plug (from a OBD2) and spliced it into, replacing my distributer plug on my OBD1 harness. Plugged distribuetr right into the OBD1 harness. I had the wiring diagrams and colors from the Honda Service, and thats how I wored up the new plug....all the wires and thier functions are the same, just the plugs were different. Code 4 error: first thing I'm gonna do is re-check my wiring of the distributer plug...did I cross a wire?

Could this be the reason my timing is SO far off?

Some colors don't match up... do a search... I put a d16Y8 in a crx a couple of weeks ago and the colors are completely different (In addition to the fact that there are two whites)... I had to look at an extra obd2 b-series distributor I had.... Definately check your wiring (I HOPE YOURE RUNNING AN OBD2 DISTRIBUTOR AND NOT OBD1!!!!) Good luck

try going back to using your Z6 distributor instead. See if that will fix your idle problems.

the z6 distributer dowsn;t fit the y8 head.

I checked the wiring...its all correct...I got a plug form the harness-side and wired it in place of my obd1 dist. plug.

Also, reading the code wrong, it was code 14, EACV. Everything is running now though, with NO ecu cides. My idle is still high at about 1000rpm.....and I don't know why??? I'm sure I have a vacuum leak, as I plugged the intake pipe, and the engine still runs! So either my engine runs without air (not likely) or its getting air from somewhere else.........

Try pulling the EACV (IACV) while it's running. If it doesn't make a difference then it is probably bad. It should try and stall.

WOO! All fixed! Using wrong gasket on throttle body, blocked air hole, and injector seals are different sizes between the z6 and y8.....was leaking air..

Thanks for all help.
